That’s Rats! Migrants unimpressed with conditions at RAF base

More of this.

Migrants being housed at the old RAF base in Wethersfield have expressed discontent at how literally all squaddies live. With bogs blocked, washing machines flooding and rodents having an absolute field day - Wethersfield has never felt so normal.

It is ironic that people are kicking off about the state of military accommodation given to migrants from war-zones, when British soldiers who served in said war-zones got the same accommodation on returning to UK...just saying.

RemSun super-walt was a teacher at Eton

“Yeah I got this in World War One or something”

The 64 year old geezer who rocked up to a Remembrance wreath-laying ceremony dressed as an Admiral has been unmasked - and he’s an ex-teacher at none other than Eton College. Eton can now confidently lay claim not only to 20 Prime Ministers, but also to one of the UK’s most famous Walts.

The MOD isn’t happy with Admiral Waltalot, saying “Impersonating a Naval officer is insulting to anyone connected to the service and can be considered a criminal offense.”

Russia fires lasers at RAF

The Russian spook ship ‘Yantar’ has been sat on the edge of British waters for a while now, but tensions have been escalating after they shot lasers at RAF jets the other day.

Defence Secretary Healey has told the Russians “We see you. We know what you are doing. And if Yantar travels South this week, we are ready.”

The Russians, in return, have requested the Brits let them carry on their reconnaissance in peace. Fair enough I guess - must be annoying having jets and boats interfering when you’re trying to map deep sea cables.

Landy Replacement Inbound?

Our friends over at BFBS got a sneak peek of a potential replacement for the Landy - the Infantry Squad Vehicle from General Motors. I hope it makes so much noise you can’t have a conversation, goes 25mph and lets water straight through the roof…otherwise is it really a military vehicle?

THIS WEEK IN HISTORY

Big events from the past, covered in brief and probably inaccurately.

19th November 1863: The Gettysburg Address

Four months after the bloodiest battle of the American Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln arrived at Gettysburg to dedicate a cemetery for the Union dead. The battle had cost more than 50,000 lives and marked a turning point in the war. Lincoln’s remarks lasted barely two minutes, but they reframed the entire conflict: this was not just a fight to preserve the Union, but a test of whether a nation built on liberty could even survive.

Few noticed at the time, but the speech became one of the most important pieces of wartime rhetoric in U.S. history.

THE RUMOUR MILL

There is no guaranteeing the veracity of these stories, it’s just what we’re hearing.

Army Reviews Private School Members Amid Walt Scandal

SLOUGH – Rumour has it Glasgow is reviewing the CVs of all officers who went to private school, after it emerged that the Eton staff room was awash with professional walters. When we approached one ex-private school officer from the Royal Regiment of Lancerlots, he replied: “Look, maaate, if you ask me, anyone in an acting rank is as good as walting. And look at the Guards – their full screws masquerade as sergeants, for God’s sake.”

The MOD was unavailable for comment.
